The Estate Committee recently met with the Painshawfield Biodiversity Society to discuss plans for a forthcoming Foxtail Pine memorial bench on the common land, a project that will commemorate the tree and its importance to the village.
This bench is expected to be completed in early summer with any remaining timber repurposed to create a carved notice board featuring text and decorative elements explaining the history of the Foxtail Pine and its significance.
The Executive Committee has agreed to support the project and will be contributing £200 towards the cost of the bench. Covenantors can also contribute if they would like to and should email the secretary for more details.
We are also looking at the possibility of planting a native tree to replace the Foxtail Pine ensuring the continuation of biodiversity and green heritage within the village.
Further details about the project will be shared with covenantors in the next community newsletter.
